Heavy Rush at Chennai Central Due to Arakkonam Train Maintenance Works

Chennai Central`s Moore Market Complex witnessed heavy passenger congestion after several suburban train services were cancelled or partially operated due to ongoing track maintenance and infrastructure work at Arakkonam Railway Station.

The Chennai Division of Southern Railway reduced the number of suburban train services, with several trains terminating at Tiruvallangadu instead of operating up to Arakkonam. More than 40 suburban trains were fully cancelled, while another 40-plus services operated only up to Tiruvallangadu, causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters.

The disruption led to a large crowd of passengers at Chennai Central, especially on Sunday. To manage the rush, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel regulated passenger boarding and strengthened security arrangements at the station.

Passengers travelling on the Chennai–Arakkonam suburban route are advised to check the latest train schedules and service updates before starting their journey.
