This article is all about the 6 dams in TN that have been selected by TTDC for diversifying tourism.
To develop diverse tourism including reservoir cruises, boating, water sports, adventure sports, restaurants etc Tamil Nadu Tourism and Water Resources Department has shortlisted 6 dams in TN like Bhavani, Mettur, Vaigai, Amaravathi, Aliyar and Krishnagiri for introducing tourism activities. This was mentioned by a senior officer from TTDC or Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation.
It is now expected that the proposed activities would generate adequate funding for dam maintenance through enhanced financial support and revenue sharing for WRD.
A detailed project report or DPR has been sought now and the scope of DPR would include study, site survey, geotechnical survey, topography survey etc. Assessment of infrastructure would also be done. It was brought out that the DPR would include a complete study and access the latest tourism potential of the sites and its surroundings. It is now said that the DPR would explore the possibilities of public-private partnership. Also the DPR would have assessment of connectivity like road network, railheads and linkages to airports etc in the region. Bottlenecks would also be identified.
