Superb news about the sudden rains in Chennai now!!

The continuous hot days in Chennai have led to rains in the city on Sunday evening. This made the residents feel happy and relieved.
Information collected is that Nungambakkam recorded 6.6mm of rain yesterday. Other places like Madhavaram, Villivakkam, MRC Nagar, Meenambakkam etc recorded 1mm of rain yesterday.
The convective activity due to hot days was responsible for the rains in the evening in Chennai on Sunday. This was according to RMC in Chennai. The maximum day temp yesterday at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam were 40.2 degrees Celsius and 39.6 degrees respectively.
It is learnt that the sky would be partly cloudy today in Chennai and light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning would occur in some places in the city. The maximum temp in Chennai today would be around 40 degrees Celsius and minimum would be around 29 to 30 degrees Celsius.
