Prospects for heavy rain in 18 districts in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that, due to the intensification of the northeast monsoon rainy season, there are prospects for heavy rain in 18 districts in Tamil Nadu.

In a notification released by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre regarding this, it is mentioned:

"The Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season has intensified in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry!

Due to this, a cyclonic format is prevailing over the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Kanyakumari Ocean sections!

Due to this, there are prospects for widespread mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder today (Sunday, 6th November) in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.

Meanwhile, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in 18 districts in Tamil Nadu including Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudhukkottai, Theni, Dindigul, Thenkasi, Thirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Thoothukkudi, and Ramanathapuram. Pudhuchery, and Karaikkal.

As regards tomorrow (Monday, 7th November), and day-after-tomorrow (Tuesday, 8th November), there are prospects for mild to medium rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal tomorrow (Monday, 7th November).

There are prospects of a low-pressure zone forming over the Bay of Bengal Area adjacent to Sri Lanka on the 9th of November (Wednesday)

This low-pressure format is likely to drift in the next 2 days towards Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coastal areas in the northwest direction. Due to this, the climate is conducive for persistent medium rain in the next few days!

The rainfalls recorded in cm in various places over the last 24 hours as of 8.30 AM yesterday (Saturday, 5th November): Tamil Nadu: Kodikkarai 9 cm, Rameswaram 8 cm, Kottaram, Kulasekarappattinam - 7 each, Velankanni, Vathirayiruppu, Sivagiri, Penchani Dam, Muthuppettai - 6.

Vaippar, Pillaakkal, Cheranmaadevi, Pechippaarai, Mettuppalayam, Vembukkottai, Dharapuram, Thenkasi, Sankaran Kovil, Nagappattinam, Pamban 6 each

Ambasamudram, Kaniyal, Thirukkuval;ai, Sivalokam, Vembur, Ramanathapuram, Thakkalai, Kattumayilur, Otthukkuli, Aayikudi, Cheyyar, Vedasathur, Manimutharu, Soorankudi, Thangachimadam, Annamalainagar 4 each."
