Cyclone Nivar expected shortly! Warning for heavy rains in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has warned that a storm will attack the state of Tamil Nadu on 25th November!

A low-pressure zone formed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the South Bay of  Bengal yesterday (Saturday, 21st November). Within 24 hours, this depression zone is set to be intensified rapidly and transform into a strong depression zone. Subsequently, it is likely to transform into a storm and drift and attack the state of Tamil Nadu on 25th November as per the warning given by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre.

.Announcement from the Chennai Regional Centre:

“The low-pressure zone formed over the South Bay of Bengal will transform into a strong depression in the next 48 hours. It may transform into a storm on 25th November (Wednesday) and there are prospects for this storm to drift and attack the state of  Tamil  Nadu.

This storm is likely to cross the coast between Mahabalipuram and Karaikkal. At that time, high-speed winds at 50 kmph to 75 kmph are likely to blow. It has been estimated that the winds will blow at 62 kmph.

As such, there are prospects for heavy rains in most Tamil Nadu Districts. Due to this, the fishermen have been warned NOT TO VENTURE INTO THE SA ON 25TH NOVEMBER.

Due to this storm, there are prospects for heavy rains in the districts of Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, and Karaikkal.

There are prospects for very heavy rains in the districts of Pudhukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Karaikkal, Nagappattinam, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, and Perambalur.

There are prospects for similar very heavy rains as well in the districts of Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Trichy, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Puducherry, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Ranippettai, Thiruvannamalai, Thiruppathur, and Vellore

There are prospects for very heavy rains on 25th November in the delta districts of Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Puducherry, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Chingleput, Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Karaikkal.

There are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains in the districts of Trichy, Namakkal, Karur, Erode, Dharmapuri, Salem, Krishnagiri, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thirupathur, Ranippettai, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chennai, and Chingleput.

It is further informed by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre that there are prospects for heavy rains on Thursday (26th November) in the districts of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, and Vellore.

Warning for fishermen: FISHERMEN HAVAVE BEEN WARNED NOT TO VENTURE INTO THE SEA FROM TODAY (SUNDAY, 22ND NOVEMBER) UNTIL 25TH WEDNESDAY (26TH NOVEMBER).
