Today, Chennai city to get light rains

Chennai city has been experiencing cool weather and the residents are happy and not complaining. It has been forecasted by the meteorological department that cloudy and less hot weather would persist for one more day in the city of Chennai. The convective cloud formation would bring light rains in Chennai on the Tuesday evening.
It has been predicted that sky is likely to be generally cloudy and light rains is likely to take place in some places. It must be noted that suburbs like Thirumullaivoyal, Avadi etc received rains n Sunday night.
Till Monday evening, Nungambakkam received 2.5 mm of rains and Meenambakkam received 2.7 mm rains. It was later pointed out by the Chennai weather blogger, Mr. Pradeep John that dark monsoonish clouds were seen over Chennai. He added that strong winds would prevent heavy rains in Chennai. Finally he hinted that there would be drizzles and light to moderate rains in Chennai.
Information collected is offshore monsoon trough extending up to north Kerala coast would influence heavy rainfall along the Western Ghats especially in the Nilgris and Coimbatore district. This was as per Mr. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre. He added that these above said districts would receive rains due to orographic effects.
