Prospects of heavy rain in TN northern coastal districts

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has confirmed that there are prospects of the prevailing low-pressure zone to transform into a cyclonic form by tomorrow (Thursday, 14th December), there are prospects of heavy rains in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Balachandran, explained in this regard that the low-pressure zone that was prevailing over the southeast Bay of Bengal has now intensified into a high-level depression zone. Presently, this is located at 1170 km towards east of Chennai. This may transform into a very high depression zone before tonight. It may transform into a cyclone by tomorrow morning (Friday, 14th December)  and may drift towards north Tamil Nadu coast and South Andhra as per the prevailing conditions.

This may lead to high-speed winds blowing at 45 kmph to 55 kmph on 15th and 16th December. There are prospects of heavy rains in 1 or 2 places. The fishermen are strictly advised not to venture into the sea in the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent central-west ocean zones.

The fishermen who are presently at deep sea levels is strictly advised to come back ashore immediately. There are prospects as at present for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places. The depression is located at a distance of 1120 km in the deep sea. As there are possible changes while drifting, it may not be possible to predict clearly as to where it will cross the coast.
