Heavier rains forecast for today

The Tamil Nadu State Government has ordered the collectors of Chennai, Thiruvalluvar,Kancheepuram and Tiruvannamalai districts to take precautionary steps since there will be heavier rains today.
The depression in Bay of Bengal is laying 125 kms off Chennai. The Regional Meteorological Centre has mentioned that it is likely to move in northwards along Tamil Nadu – South Andhra Pradesh coast at about 5.30 pm. In view of this, there will be heavier rains to the tune of 25 cms in Chennai, , Thiruvalluvar, Kancheepuram and Tiruvannamalai districts. Heavy rainfall is also expected at Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam and Pudukkottai.
Squally weather wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is likely along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts today.
In view of this public are requested to be safe. Fishermen should not venture into sea. The collectors have been ordered to take necessary precautionary steps.
