The trough that has been formed in the easterlies might bring rains once again to Chennai city.
It is said that Chennai might get rains for the next 2 days. It is well known that the monsoon is coming to an end now. The condition of the sky is likely to be cloudy and light rains are likely to occur in some places. This has been confirmed by the meteorological department.
There was a surprise spell of rains in Chennai on Tuesday morning and it made Chennai pleasant. This was after the meteorological department on Monday mentioned that Chennai would not get any rains. In many places in Chennai, the drizzle persisted for most part of the day.
It was later revealed by some weatherman that Chennai would get light rains for the next 2 days. He was unsure about Chennai getting intense rains. The point to be noted here is Chennai city received rains because of the effect of trough in the easterlies stretching from Comorin to south TN.
There would be heavy rains in southern districts and this would be due to the trough. This was according to the weatherman. Meenambakkam received 0.1mm of rains on Tuesday whereas Nungambakkam received traces of rains. Important information is the maximum temperature dropped from 30 degrees Celsius to 26.8 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the day would be nippy and cold in Chennai city and the maximum temperature would be 28 degrees and the minimum temperature would be 24 degrees. It was later brought out by weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John that the Christmas would be rainy. Places such as Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chennai might receive good quantum of rains. In Chennai, the north-east or NE monsoon has been 17 percent deficit and across TN the NE monsoon has been 6 percent surplus is known.
