Tamil Nadu: Bookings Open Today for Vaikasi Visakam Special Trains to Tiruchendur

Southern Railway has announced special superfast train services between Chennai Egmore and Tiruchendur to handle the heavy passenger rush for the Vaikasi Visakam festival celebrations scheduled on Saturday.

According to Southern Railway, Train No. 06155 Chennai Egmore–Tiruchendur Superfast Special will depart from Chennai Egmore at 2.30 pm on May 29 (Friday) and reach Tiruchendur at 3 am the following day.

In the return direction, Train No. 06156 Tiruchendur–Chennai Egmore Superfast Special will leave Tiruchendur at 11.15 pm on May 30 (Saturday) and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 11.30 am the next day.

The Vaikasi Visakam special train will consist of two AC two-tier coaches, 12 sleeper class coaches, two general second-class coaches, and two second-class coaches specially adapted for Divyangjan passengers.

The train will stop at important railway stations including Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti and Tirunelveli before reaching Tiruchendur.

Southern Railway also announced that advance reservations for the Chennai to Tiruchendur special trains will open at 8 am on Thursday. Thousands of devotees are expected to travel to Tiruchendur Murugan Temple for the Vaikasi Visakam festival celebrations.
