Tamil Nadu Weather: Rising Heat and Light Rain Forecast Till March 18

Several parts of Tamil Nadu are witnessing rising temperatures, with the highest temperature of 100.4°F recorded in Madurai and Vellore. Weather officials stated that the maximum temperature across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may increase slightly until March 15.

According to the weather department, a low-level atmospheric circulation over the Kanyakumari Sea region may bring light rainfall in a few coastal districts of South Tamil Nadu from March 13 to March 16. However, most other areas are expected to experience mainly dry weather conditions.

Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is likely in the Western Ghats districts and nearby regions on March 17 and 18. Light rain may also occur in southern coastal districts, delta districts and Karaikal.

In Chennai and surrounding areas, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy.

Rainfall Recorded in Tamil Nadu

During the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 AM on Thursday, the highest rainfall of 40 mm was recorded at Oothu in Tirunelveli district.

Other rainfall recorded includes:

- 30 mm at Kodumudiyar Dam, Nalumukku, Kakachi and Manjolai

- 20 mm at Nanguneri (Tirunelveli), Sathankulam (Thoothukudi) and Nambiyar Dam

- 10 mm at Kayalpattinam (Thoothukudi) and Kalakkad (Tirunelveli)

Meteorologists advise residents to take precautions against rising heat levels while some regions may receive light rain in the coming days.
