No more stopping of vehicles and long waiting at the closed railway gate while going from GST Road towards Oragadam!!
The superb news that has come out now is that work on the massive grade separator at Singaperumal koil is going fast. By the month of October, this work would be completed fully.
It was later mentioned by some sources belonging to the Highways dept that the construction of an arm on the GST Road side leading to Oragadam crossing LC47 would be completed soon. An official spoke about how a portion of the elliptical rotary that was being cast in-situ remained on the arm. Point is that since the work is being carried out on the very busy national highway vehicle movement couldn`t be stopped. Hence, most of the grade separator work takes place at the nights only.
Every day on the GST Road, heavy vehicles wait in a long line is well known to us. As per a taxi driver it was clear that during the weekends the long line would even reach the Paranur toll plaza too.
It was later revealed by a resident from Singaperumal Koil that power poles, cables and transformers stand in the alignment of grade separators. He added that the water mains present underground need to be shifted also. He hinted that the residents wanted zero traffic jams. It must be taken into account that the project was put on hold for many years due to various reasons.
The sources added that it was the second call for tender and the prices were revised. For shifting the power lines, tenders were called for but could not be processed due to the Model Code of Conduct. This was pointed out by some official sources.
