Tambaram Police Launch AI-Powered WhatsApp Bot ‘Tambaram What’sCop’

Tambaram City Police have launched an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot, ‘Tambaram What’sCop’, to provide a range of police services and improve citizens’ access to emergency assistance.

According to a press release, the Tambaram What’sCop service is available in both Tamil and English. Citizens can access the chatbot by sending “Hi” to 9344-222-100 on WhatsApp or by scanning the QR code issued by Tambaram City Police.

Emergency Assistance Through WhatsApp

The new AI-powered police WhatsApp chatbot allows citizens to share their live location with the police during emergencies. This feature is designed to help people quickly communicate their location when they require immediate assistance.

The chatbot also includes a ‘Track My Journey’ feature, particularly aimed at improving the safety of women travelling alone. Users can register their journey and seek police assistance if they experience an unusual delay or if their route deviates unexpectedly.

Anonymous Reporting of Illegal Activities

Citizens can also use Tambaram What’sCop to anonymously share information about illegal activities with the police. This provides the public with an additional and convenient channel to communicate information to law enforcement authorities.

Locate the Nearest Police Station

The WhatsApp chatbot also helps users find the nearest police station, making it easier for citizens to identify the appropriate police facility when they need assistance.

In addition, the platform provides access to online services for registering cybercrime complaints and tracing lost or stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

Tambaram Police Appeal to Citizens

Tambaram City Police have appealed to women, students, parents, educational institutions, resident welfare associations and the general public to make use of the new digital service.

The launch of Tambaram What’sCop is aimed at improving citizen-police communication and making essential police emergency services, women’s safety assistance, cybercrime services and other police facilities more accessible through WhatsApp.
