UPSC Civil Services Mains Exam 2026 Begins with 13,343 Candidates

The UPSC Civil Services Main Examination 2026 began today, August 21, with 13,343 candidates appearing for the examination.

The exam is being conducted in two sessions each day, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination every year to select candidates for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

For 2026, 933 vacancies were announced, while 8,19,372 candidates applied for the examination. Following the preliminary examination, 13,343 candidates qualified for the Main Examination.

The UPSC Mains examination will be held on August 21, 22, 23, 29 and 30, 2026.

Candidates can submit objections regarding the question papers through the Question Paper Representation Portal (QPReP) on the UPSC website. The portal will remain open from August 31 to September 4, 2026. Representations sent through email, post or any other mode will not be accepted.
