Are metro train fares likely to go up after GST?
It has been announced that there will not be any major change in the ordinary and suburban train fares including Metro and there would be a GST of 8% for A/C travels. The tax on flight fares which are direct a foreign city is reduced from the prevailing 6% to 5 %.
At the same time, the tax on the business class flight will be up from the present 9% to 12%.
It is gathered that the air-conditioned train fares will be up by 5%, whereas no major changes are expected for ordinary and local suburban trains including Metro.
Under GST, the tax for travel in OLA, Uber, Meru travel tax will be down from 6% to 5% under GST.
The vehicles which carry more than 10 passengers such as buses, mini buses will be tax-exempt under GST, in other words no taxes.
