Relief Assistance to marine Fishermen families during Fishing Ban period

The Fishing Ban Period Assistance Scheme is a sub-component of the Welfare and Relief for Fishermen During Lean Seasons and Natural Calamities Scheme implemented by the Government of Puducherry. The scheme aims to support fishermen families who lose their regular income during fishing ban periods and natural calamities while helping conserve marine resources during breeding seasons.

Benefits

- 100 kg of rice per eligible fisherman family.

- Cash assistance of ₹750 during the fishing ban period.

- Financial relief during lean fishing seasons and natural calamities.

Eligibility Criteria

- Applicant must be a permanent resident of the Union Territory of Puducherry.

- Applicant must be a fisherman.

- Applicant must belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.

- Beneficiaries may be selected based on decisions of the Governing Body of the Pondicherry Fishermen Welfare and Distress Relief Society.

- Applicant should not be residing in a foreign country during the fishing ban period or natural calamity for which assistance is provided.

- Neither the beneficiary nor any family member listed in the ration card should be employed in Government, Quasi-Government, Government Undertakings, or be a retired Government pensioner.

- Old Age Pension beneficiaries are also eligible for assistance.

- Ownership or non-ownership of mechanized, motorized, or traditional fishing boats will not affect eligibility.

Required Documents

- Aadhaar Card.

- Copy of the first page of the Bank Passbook.

- Red Ration Card issued by the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Puducherry.

- Identity Card issued by the Director of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare.

- Membership Certificate issued by the Fishermen Co-operative Society of the concerned village.

- Recent passport-size photograph (if required).

Application Process

Visit the Concerned Office

- Visit the respective Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Office in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, or Yanam.

- Request the prescribed application form from the concerned authority.

Fill the Application Form

- Enter all required personal and family details.

- Attach a passport-size photograph if required.

- Attach copies of all mandatory supporting documents.

- Self-attest documents wherever applicable.

Submit the Applicatio

- Submit the completed application form along with supporting documents to the concerned authority.

- Ensure all information provided is accurate and complete.

Receive Acknowledgement

- Collect the acknowledgement or receipt after submission.

- Keep the receipt safely for future reference.

- Verify that the receipt contains submission details and identification number, if provided.

- Applications with incomplete information may be rejected.

- All supporting documents must be submitted along with the application form.
