Introduction of ‘Namma Toilet’ by Chennai Corporation

Among the 900 common toilets in Chennai city, many are in useless condition. Those that are in condition are being used as the major collection points for the respected councilors. The corporation of Chennai cannot control the illegal practice of collecting charges for toilet usage.
To overcome this situation, Corporation of Chennai has decided to implement the new ‘Namma Toilet’ system which is now in operation in Tambaram Municipality. After thorough cleaning and renovating the useless toilets, Chennai Corporation has decided to hand over their maintenance to the private bodies. Charges will be collected for the usage of these ‘Namma Toilet’.
