The city of Chennai has now added one more feather to its cap of achievements!!
Today, all the roads in Chennai would lead to the famous Jawaharlal Nehru stadium as the PM of India Mr. Narendra Modi would be inaugurating the 6th Khelo India Youth Games or KIYG.
Beginning from 19th January till 31st January 2024, Chennai city would be hosting the KIYG 2024. Identifying and nurturing grassroots sporting talents would be the main aim of this youth game. Point is that the KIYG 2024 would witness more than 5500 athletes across 26 sports.
There would be five- tier security for the Indian PM and a no fly zone has been declared for the drones. For maintaining law 7 order in Chennai about 22000 police personnel would be deployed.
For the first time ever, an event is being organised in a southern state across India. This 6th edition of KIYG 2024 would be special because it would have squash for the first time. In addition to this, silambam would be introduced as a demo sport. In the last 3 editions, TN State is the first state ever to hold all the sporting disciplines.
