Surprising news!! Toilets present in 9 locations in Chennai are spick and span!! - Guess where?

Normally, it would not be possible to find public toilets that are neat and clean in Chennai.
The sensational news is that in 9 locations in the city the public toilets are now spick and span. It is now said that the residents in these localities are enjoying the benefits of clean toilets.
These spick and span toilets are present in locations like Guindy Indusrtrial Estate, Thiruvanmiyur bus stand, Kottivakkam bus stand, Maruthapandi Salai in Velachery, Balraman Street in Adyar, Theeruvithiaman Koil street, Greenways Road, Kovalan Nagar in Pallikaranai, Anna Nedunchalai in Perungudi etc. Truth is that these toilets were renovated in July.
As a part of renovation of Tamil Nadu`s urban sanitation support programme,the Indian Institute of Human Settlements conducted renovation. As manya s 317 toilets were built recently by GCC out of a total of 904 toilets.
After the maintenance of the toilets were assigned to the self help groups, NGOs and private companies etc, the daily footfall increased from 200 to 800. This was according to Donata, senior specialist, IIHS-TNUSSP. She spoke about how the toilets were not only clean but also had running water and monitored thru CCTVcameras. In these toilets there are also sanitary napkin vending machines present to help the women.
