Increase in the train speeds upto 130 kmph along Chennai-Renigunta, Arakkonam - Jolarpettai routes!!

According to the manual of the Railways department, the trains speeds have been divided into Group A route and Group B route. To increase the trains speeds upto 160kmph in Group A and upto 130kmph in Group B works are being  carried out in all the zones now.

The administration of Southern Railways or SR has been taking steps to increase the train speeds in all major routes in Tamil Nadu.  It must be noted that SR has a total of 2485 km and trains are being run at speed of 110 kmph.

The news that has come out now is that along the routes of  Chennai- Renigunta, Arakkonam- Jolarpettai  in these 2 important rail routes the train speeds would be increased to 130kmph. Moreover, the SR has decided to run trains at speeds of 110kmph along 5 routes.

According to some officers from the SR, on some certain routes, trains are being operated at a speed of 110kmph. They added that steps are being taken to increase the train speeds to 145kmph along these routes. Along the Chennai-Gudur route for the first time, trains are being run at speeds of 130kmph. The SR has taken a decision to increase the train speed to 130kmph along the Chennai-Renigunta route by March end. By June, the train speeds between Arakkaonam-Jollarpettai would also be increased.

Now, steps are being taken to run trains at speeds of 110kmph along the Virudhachalam-Salem, Villupuram- Puducherry etc in some railway routes. In addition to these, the SR has decided to increase the train speeds to 110km along 5 railway routes like Tirunelveli-Tenkasi, Salem-Karur, Dindigul-Pollachi, Madurai-Vanchimaniyachi etc. This was mentioned by the officials belonging to SR.
