With just a few days now for the Pongal season, the Koyambedu wholesale market in Chennai has been witnessing a steady inflow of fruits now.  The weather in Chennai has been cold for the past few days and the sales of fruits haven`t yet picked up due to this weather.

The customers have been hesitating to purchase fruits now and this has led to a 40% drop in the fruits business at the market.  According to a wholesale trader at the Koyambedu market in Chennai, the intense rains in the neighbouring states have increased the fruits production.

As a result, the Koyambedu market received adequate supplies. He threw light on how the drip in the temperatures during the noon has made the people to think twice about buying fruits. This is due to the fear of falling sick after eating fruits.

Usually a week before the most important Pongal festival, the sales of fruits would be tremendous but this time around it has been reversed and the sales have come down by 40% at the market.

Another fruit trader at the market mentioned that there were no marriage or temple festivals etc in the recent days and due to this also the business of fruits has come
