Out of the 525 lakes under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Chengalpattu District, 150 lakes are now full up to the brim due to the recent incessant rainfall!

It was raining heavily and incessantly in Chengalpattu District right from Thursday (10th November) until Friday morning (11th November). Till Friday at 2.00 PM, there was medium rain in the district.

Due to this incessant rain, as rain flood water is flowing across Achirupakkam local administration Vellapputhur Bridge, the transport between the 2 villages Vellapputhur and Kattiyampandhal has been disrupted. This has caused hardship to the local citizens!

Due to the incessant rain, in the village of S N Puram, near Mahuranthagam Circle Padalam all the huts have got damaged.

In this situation, out of the 528 ka=lakes in Chengalpattu District under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department, 150 lakes are full to the brim. 153 lakes are 75% full! 137 lakes are more than half full!

The Tamil Nadu State Government Public Works Department (PWD) officials have informed us that most of the sluices (kanmaai in Tamil) in the villages are brimming with full capacity!
