As many as 392 streets in Chennai are flooded by heavy rains now - Whats going on??

Throughout Sunday, Chennai city was receiving intermittent rains and the intensity of the rains became more during the night. On the previous day, the rains were heavy and this has now led to many areas in Chennai under water. The flooding has resulted in the normal lives getting affected and heavy traffic congestion in many places.

It was brought to light that as many as392 streets in 108 neighbourhoods belonging to Chennai had water stagnation. The important subways such as Rangarajapuram, Madley and Ganeshpuram were closed in the morning. People in localities like T. Nagar, west Mambalam, Kodambakkm, K.K. Nagar etc were flooded. Later, it was mentioned by a resident belonging to Mettupalayam that water has entered into the houses in Arundati Nagar. He added that roads were flooded with water and sewage. It must be noted that atleast 9 roads were closed for traffic as they were flooded

Information is that Rajamannar Salai and Anna main road in KK. Nagar and the stretch under the G.N. Chetty road flyover has been under water. On Saturday, Mega Mart road in Valasaravakkam was submerged under the rain water. It is learnt that the traffic from Medavakkam to Sholinganallur has been diverted to Sholinganallur via Kamatchi Hospital.
