Posted on: 09/Jun/2021 9:17:21 AM
Just like what happened in 2020, the electricity bills received now by the consumers in Chennai are very high. This has made the consumers disappointed and angry. It must be noted that several consumers of Tangedco took to social media to show their anger over inflated power bill amounts even for the locked houses.

Point is that the discom that asked its domestic consumers to self-assess the consumption to avoid controversy over the previous assessment billing has failed to publicise it.

A north Chennai resident expressed his views regarding high electricity bills received now. He pointed out that he was not in India since March and that despite no electricity being consumed in April and in May he got a bill of Rs 5344 based on last year`s consumption. He now wants Tangedco to provide an answer.

It was later mentioned by another resident from Velachery that he and his family were out of Chennai for almost 2 months and yet he received a bill of Rs 3700. She had tweeted about checking and rectifying her bill.

Previous assessment billing was higher than their normal charges. This was according to people living in the rented houses and those who had shifted in 2020. It is shocking to note that a resident of Chennai received the latest electricity bill of Rs 8182.Truth is that his bills for the last 2 months were below Rs 600. He spoke about how he and his family have shifted to this current house in April 2020 and how the bill amount was highly unacceptable.

A Kolathur resident was taken back after he had received an inflated bill and said he had submitted meter reading along with a photo to the local EB office. Information is that the claim was accepted and the revised amount was deducted accordingly just inside a day.
