A ‘Big No’ for Cloth Screens on Car Windows!

Following the clear out on sun-control films, the cloth screens have become widely used by the car owners on the car windows for some relief from the heat.
But though, such cloth screens are also not permissible, says senior traffic police officials. If caught, we force the car owners to remove them, officials added.
Devoid of some shield from sun heat, it is not possible to sit in and steer the vehicle, say the car owners. Even the tourist cab drivers, suffer the pinch. Owing to this new rule, more than 10,000 cars running across the city will be getting deprived.
In 2012, the Supreme Court barred the aid of sun-control films in four-wheelers to hold back crimes that were being stanched by taking benefit of the film’s murkiness. Though, the painted window panes abided with particular specifications for opacity are permitted.
The officer said that the key idea behind the Supreme Court’s order was to have an apparent vision of people traveling in the vehicles.
A senior traffic police official says that the Visual Light Transmission should be 70 % for the front and rear windows and 50 % for the side windows.
If the government was very intense on following the Supreme Court’s order, then it should also order the car manufacturers to mend tinted panes before handing over the vehicles. Else, the car owners ought to expend a lot of money on them, a consumer activist said.
