Tamil Nadu Noon Meal Scheme May Include Chicken Biryani Once a Week: Minister Rajmohan

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister A. Rajmohan chaired a consultative meeting with representatives of teacher associations and non-teaching staff unions on Tuesday to discuss key issues related to the functioning of the School Education Department.

More than 100 teacher organisations and non-teaching staff associations participated in the meeting, presenting their demands, grievances and suggestions directly to the Minister and senior department officials.

During the consultation, Rajmohan said that several concerns raised by the associations had been taken into consideration. Among them was a demand to include chicken biryani once a week in the noon meal scheme.

The Minister said the department would continue to extend its support to teachers and their associations while reviewing issues that could have a broader impact on the education system.

Rajmohan also assured the associations that their petitions and demands would be digitised to enable better tracking and follow-up.

Another major issue raised during the meeting was the need to fill vacant teacher posts in elementary classes. Teacher associations urged the government to address vacancies and other concerns affecting schools and staff.

The consultative meeting provided teacher and non-teaching staff associations with an opportunity to directly present their concerns and suggestions to the School Education Minister and senior officials.
