Thunderstorms and Moderate Rain Likely Across Tamil Nadu Until June 15, Says Weather Department

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across parts of Tamil Nadu until June 15. The weather system is being influenced by cyclonic circulations prevailing over the north coastal Tamil Nadu region and adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

According to the forecast, Western Ghats districts, Delta districts, North Interior Tamil Nadu, and Karaikal are likely to receive moderate rain with thunderstorms between June 13 and June 15. Rainfall activity is also expected to continue in isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from June 16 to June 18.

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy, with the possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas.

Meanwhile, temperatures remained high in several districts. Madurai Airport recorded the highest temperature at 104°F, while Madurai city, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, and Punjai Puliampatti also witnessed temperatures above 100°F.

During the last 24 hours, Neyyoor in Kanniyakumari district recorded the highest rainfall of 110 mm, according to weather officials.
