Residents in several parts of Chennai will face a temporary disruption in piped drinking water supply as maintenance work is scheduled at the Nemmeli Desalination Plant.
According to a statement issued by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), maintenance activities will be carried out at the 110 MLD Nemmeli Desalination Plant. As a result, piped water supply will be suspended from 9:00 AM on June 12 to 9:00 AM on June 13, 2026 in select areas across Adyar, Perungudi, and Sholinganallur zones.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance period.
For emergency water requirements, consumers can request water tanker services through the official Chennai Metro Water website: CMWSSB Official Website.
The water board has clarified that water supply through tankers to areas without pipeline connections and locations experiencing low pressure will continue as usual without interruption.
