Madurantakam, Dharapuram By-Elections on October 6: Full Schedule and Key Details

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that by-elections will be held in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu on October 6, 2026. The counting of votes will take place on October 9.

The two constituencies became vacant following the resignation of their sitting MLAs. The Election Commission has now announced the bypoll schedule to fill the vacancies.

The Model Code of Conduct will be applicable in the constituencies following the announcement of the by-elections. Voting will be conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPATs.

Madurantakam and Dharapuram By-Elections

The Madurantakam (SC) and Dharapuram (SC) Assembly constituencies are among the vacant seats in Tamil Nadu for which by-elections were due.

The Election Commission has announced polling only for these two constituencies at present. By-elections have not been announced for Tiruchirappalli East, Perundurai, Karur, Viralimalai and Ambasamudram, where legal restrictions remain in force.
