Tamil Nadu Likely to Experience Early and Intense Summer from March First Week
Tamil Nadu is expected to witness the onset of summer from the first week of March, with higher temperatures compared to last year, according to private weather analyst Delta Weatherman Hemachandran.
Heat to Continue Till October
The analyst stated that the summer season from March to May will see above-normal temperatures. Out of the 12 summer weeks:
- 4 to 6 weeks may experience intense heat and dry conditions
- 2 weeks could receive convective thunder showers
- 3 to 4 weeks are likely to record normal temperatures
Convective rainfall is expected to begin towards the end of March.
El Nino Impact on Temperature
Despite the Southwest Monsoon likely beginning in June, heat levels may remain high across Tamil Nadu. The elevated temperatures could continue until late September or early October.
The rise in temperature is linked to the possible development of El Niño, which typically results in reduced rainfall and warmer conditions.
The analyst added that 2026 is expected to be a hotter year, while 2027 could witness even stronger heatwave conditions, especially during March and April.
