Chennai Suburban Train Services Restart: 6 EMU Trains Back on Track from October 26
Southern Railway has announced the resumption of six suburban electric train (EMU) services between Chengalpattu and Tambaram from tomorrow (October 26).
The services were earlier cancelled in June 2025 due to track maintenance and infrastructure upgrade works at Tambaram railway station. With the completion of these maintenance activities and growing passenger demand, the six EMU services are set to be restored.
According to Southern Railway officials, the rescheduled train timings are as follows:
Tambaram – Beach: 11:00 a.m.
Beach – Tambaram: 11:52 a.m., 12:02 p.m., 12:15 p.m.
Chengalpattu – Gummidipoondi: 9:50 a.m.
Beach – Chengalpattu: 12:28 p.m.
The restoration of these services will provide much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters who rely on suburban train connectivity between Tambaram, Perambur, and Chengalpattu.
