Surplus Water Released from Chembarambakkam Lake Amid Heavy Rains in Tamil Nadu

Surplus water was released from Chembarambakkam Lake at 4 PM today as the northeast monsoon intensifies across Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains, intensified by the ongoing cyclone, have been reported in several districts.
With the water inflow into Chembarambakkam Lake increasing to 800 cubic feet per second, authorities released 100 cubic feet per second as a precautionary measure during the first phase at 4 PM. The lake’s water level has now reached 21 feet, prompting a flood warning for villagers in the nearby coastal areas.
Residents are advised to stay alert and follow instructions from local authorities to ensure safety.
