The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red, Orange, and Yellow Alerts for several districts in Tamil Nadu due to heavy rainfall on October 21, 2025. This is a result of a low-pressure area forming over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, which is expected to intensify and bring heavy rain to the region.
Red Alerts have been issued for 8 districts in Tamil Nadu due to extremely heavy rainfall on October 21. These districts include Viluppuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, and Ramanathapuram.
Orange Alerts for heavy rainfall are issued for Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari. Yellow Alerts for moderate rainfall are expected in Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivaganga, Trichy, Thiruvannamalai, and Ranipet.
