Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated with Devotion Across Tamil Nadu

Posted on: 19/Dec/2025 10:08:12 AM

Hanuman Jayanti is being observed across Tamil Nadu with deep faith and spiritual fervour, as devotees throng Anjaneya temples from the early hours of the day to offer prayers and seek blessings. Special poojas, abhishekams, homams and continuous chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa are being held throughout the day in temples across the state.

At the famous Namakkal Anjaneya Temple, the celebrations are marked by the grand adornment of the deity with one lakh and eight vadamalai, attracting large crowds and long queues for darshan. In Chennai, the Nanganallur and Panchavati Anjaneya temples are also witnessing vibrant celebrations, with bhajans, devotional music and special rituals creating a festive spiritual atmosphere. Many devotees are observing fasts, performing tulabharam and offering butter, betel leaf garlands and sweets, while several temples have arranged annadanam for devotees.

Temples are beautifully decorated with flowers and lights, reflecting the joyous mood of the occasion. Devotees are praying for strength, courage and overall well-being. While Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Chitra Pournami in North India and Andhra Pradesh, it is observed in Tamil Nadu and other parts of South India on the Margazhi Amavasya day when the Moola star prevails.
