Chennai Metro Announces Temporary Service Changes for Track Maintenance
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced temporary changes in train service timings and frequency due to rail grinding track maintenance on both the Green Line and Blue Line. The essential maintenance activity will be carried out as part of CMRL’s annual safety and reliability program.
Maintenance Schedule
Period: September 9, 2025, to October 19, 2025 (on specified days).
Timings: Daily from 05:00 hrs to 06:30 hrs.
Service Changes During Maintenance Hours
- Metro trains will operate at 14-minute intervals instead of the usual 7-minute frequency between 05:00 hrs and 06:30 hrs.
- From 06:30 hrs onwards, normal services and regular weekday, Saturday, and Sunday schedules will resume without any changes on both lines.
- The changes will apply only on the sections of the Green Line and Blue Line where maintenance is being undertaken.

CMRL has requested passengers to plan their journeys accordingly during the maintenance hours. The corporation emphasized that track maintenance is critical for ensuring safe, smooth, and reliable metro operations.
