Tamil Nadu School Academic Calendar 2026-27 Released: 210 Working Days, Quarterly and Half-Yearly Exam Schedule Announced

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has released the official academic calendar for the 2026-27 academic year, detailing working days, holidays, examination schedules, and vacation periods for schools across the state.

According to the calendar, the academic year will have 210 working days and 155 holidays, including 22 government holidays. The final working day of the academic year will be April 23, 2027, and the summer vacation will begin on April 24, 2027.

The Quarterly Examinations are scheduled to be held from September 17 to September 25, 2026, followed by nine days of quarterly holidays from September 26 to October 4, 2026.

The Half-Yearly Examinations will be conducted from December 16 to December 23, 2026. Students will then enjoy 11 days of half-yearly holidays from December 24, 2026, to January 4, 2027.

The academic calendar also highlights several long holiday weekends. Due to Krishna Jayanthi on September 4 and Vinayagar Chaturthi on September 14, students will receive two separate three-day holiday breaks when combined with weekends. Similarly, Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami on October 19 and 20 will provide a four-day holiday stretch. The Pongal festival holidays from January 15 to 17, 2027, will result in a continuous three-day break.

To compensate for holidays, July 19, September 19, and December 19, 2026, have been declared as working Saturdays.

The School Education Department has stated that the schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations, along with annual examinations for other classes, will be announced separately at a later date.
