Ahead of Independence Day on August 15, 2026, security has been strengthened across Tamil Nadu, with around 1.20 lakh police personnel deployed across the state.

The main Independence Day celebrations in Chennai are scheduled to take place along Rajaji Salai near Fort St. George, where the Chief Minister will participate in the official celebrations and hoist the national flag.
