To get a Singara Chennai Card, you can visit the ticket counter at your nearest Chennai Metro Rail station and request the card. For the SBI-issued card, there is also an online facility to register the required details and obtain a reference number. This reference number can then be provided to the metro ticket operator to collect the card.
How to Apply Through a Metro Station?
First, visit your nearest CMRL Metro Station. At the ticket counter, ask for an application for the Singara Chennai Card.
Enter your name and other required basic details in the application and submit it to the operator. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. After completing OTP verification, you can top up the required amount on the card and receive it.
How to Apply for Singara Chennai Card Online?
You can register the required details online through SBI`s Singara Chennai Card application facility. After completing the online application, keep the reference number safely. You can then provide this reference number at the metro ticket counter to collect the card.
Are Documents Required to Get a Singara Chennai Card?
According to SBI information, documents are not required to obtain the Mass Transit System (MTS) Singara Chennai Card. The card is issued after OTP verification.
Where Can You Use the Singara Chennai Card?
The Singara Chennai Card can be used on Chennai Metro and NCMC-enabled MTC buses. It can also be used on other transit services that accept NCMC.
How to Recharge the Card?
The card can be recharged through CMRL Metro Station counters. For the IOB-issued Singara Chennai Card, users can also scan the QR code on the back of the card and recharge it through UPI. Recharge facilities are also available through the IOB Prepaid Card app and customer portal.

Important Note
From May 1, 2026, CMRL has completely transitioned from the old CMRL Travel Card to the Singara Chennai Card (NCMC) system. Therefore, passengers who regularly travel by Chennai Metro can use the Singara Chennai Card or other NCMC/QR payment options provided by CMRL.
