Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme: CM Vijay Launch Event Shifted to Madurai

The launch event of the Tamil Nadu government’s ‘Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme’ is reportedly being shifted from Usilampatti Government Hospital to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital.

The scheme, announced by Chief Minister Vijay in June, provides a one-gram gold ring to babies born in government hospitals and Primary Health Centres across Tamil Nadu.

The scheme was initially announced for launch on September 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai. It was later stated that the launch would take place on September 28. An annual allocation of ₹755.83 crore has been announced for the scheme.

Under the scheme, eligible babies born from June 22, the Chief Minister’s birthday, at government hospitals and Primary Health Centres will receive a one-gram gold ring.

The launch was earlier expected to be held at the Usilampatti Government Hospital in Madurai district. However, reports indicate that the venue has now been shifted to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital due to security considerations.

Preparatory arrangements are reportedly underway at the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital ahead of CM Vijay’s visit on September 28.

In Madurai district, around 6,500 babies have so far been included in the list of beneficiaries. The gold rings intended for distribution have been kept at Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital and the government hospitals in Tirumangalam, Usilampatti and Melur.
