Railway Ministry Launches Upgraded IRCTC Website for Faster Ticket Booking

The Ministry of Railways has launched a new and upgraded version of the IRCTC website, designed to make online train ticket booking faster, smoother, and more reliable for passengers across the country.

The upgraded platform addresses several long-standing issues experienced by users, including server slowdowns, repeated CAPTCHA verification, multiple OTP requests, and website crashes, particularly during Tatkal bookings and peak travel seasons.

As part of the modernization initiative, the railway booking system has been migrated to a cloud-based infrastructure, replacing the decades-old Passenger Reservation System (PRS). The enhanced platform is now capable of processing up to 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute, supported by upgraded servers and improved website performance.

According to the Railway Ministry, the new system is expected to significantly improve the booking experience during festival seasons, Tatkal booking hours, weekends, and long holiday periods, when heavy user traffic has traditionally resulted in delays and technical issues.

With the upgraded platform now operational, passengers can expect a quicker, more stable, and efficient online ticket booking experience through the IRCTC portal.
