Heavy Rain Likely in Tamil Nadu Till May 26: Weather Department

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has said that several districts across Tamil Nadu may receive heavy rain till May 26 due to a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea.

Districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai and nearby areas are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds along with heavy rainfall.

Chennai and surrounding suburbs may also see light to moderate rain during evening and night hours over the next few days.

The weather department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till May 26 due to strong winds over coastal areas, the Gulf of Mannar, and Kumari Sea region.
