Tamil Nadu to Roll Out Presenceless Property Registration from August 17; Stakeholder Meeting Scheduled

Ahead of the launch of the Presenceless Registration system for property transactions, the Tamil Nadu Registration Department will hold a stakeholder consultation on July 23 to explain the new digital process and address concerns raised by builders, bankers, financial institutions, and other industry representatives.

The meeting will be chaired by Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan at Amma Maligai in Chennai. Officials will also conduct a live demonstration of the contactless property registration process to familiarise stakeholders with the new system.

The Registration Department has announced that the Presenceless Registration system will become mandatory from August 17 for the first sale of flats and residential plots. The department also plans to gradually extend the digital registration facility to other categories of document registrations in the coming phases.

According to officials, the initiative is designed to improve transparency, efficiency, and public convenience by enabling a seamless and contactless registration process.

Representatives from the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), CREDAI, property developers, promoters, banks, and financial institutions have been invited to attend the consultation and provide feedback to ensure the smooth implementation of the new system across Tamil Nadu.

The new digital initiative is expected to simplify property registration, reduce paperwork, minimise physical visits to registration offices, and enhance the overall experience for homebuyers and property owners.
