Heat to Intensify Across Tamil Nadu for the Next Five Days: RMC Issues Weather Advisory

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast a rise in temperatures across Tamil Nadu over the next five days, with maximum temperatures expected to remain 2°C to 3°C above normal at a few places in the interior districts.

According to a Maalaimalar report, the weather department said the heat is expected to intensify from Friday (July 17) and continue until July 21. In Chennai, daytime temperatures are likely to range between 37°C and 38°C during this period.

Humid Conditions Expected Along the Coast

The RMC stated that coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to experience uncomfortable weather conditions due to the combined effect of high temperatures and increased humidity.

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. The city may also receive moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places during the evening or night hours.

Rain Forecast for Select Districts

The weather department has also forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over the Western Ghats districts and parts of north Tamil Nadu, including the north coastal districts.

The RMC has advised the public to take necessary precautions against the prevailing heat, especially during the afternoon hours. Residents in coastal areas are also urged to remain prepared for continued humid conditions over the coming days.
