Tamil Nadu to Conduct Statewide eKYC Campaign for NFSA Ration Card Beneficiaries on August 2

The Tamil Nadu Government will conduct a statewide special eKYC campaign on August 2, 2026, to help beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) complete their mandatory electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification.

The special drive aims to achieve 100% eKYC coverage across the State, with all district administrations instructed to ensure maximum public participation.

Special Camps at Fair Price Shops

In a circular issued on Friday, S. Sivarasu, Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, directed all District Collectors to organise special eKYC camps at fair price shops and closely monitor the verification process to ensure full compliance.

The initiative follows the Central Government`s directive, which has made eKYC verification mandatory for all NFSA beneficiaries to continue availing benefits under the public distribution system.

Awareness Campaign and ePOS Support

District officials have been instructed to create awareness among ration card holders, deploy adequate staff, and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of electronic Point of Sale (ePOS) devices during the special drive.

Officials have also been asked to personally supervise the campaign and submit compliance reports after the completion of the exercise.

Tamil Nadu Nears Full eKYC Coverage

According to the circular, 95.42% of ration cards in Tamil Nadu have already completed eKYC verification, while beneficiary-wise authentication has reached 85.77%.

The August 2 statewide campaign has been launched to bridge the remaining gap and ensure that every eligible beneficiary completes the mandatory authentication process.

Beneficiaries Urged to Complete eKYC

The Director has instructed district administrations to treat the campaign as a high-priority initiative and make every effort to achieve 100% eKYC compliance.

Beneficiaries who have not yet completed their ration card eKYC are advised to visit their respective fair price shops on August 2 with the required identification documents and complete the verification process without delay.

Completing the mandatory eKYC will help ensure uninterrupted access to food grains and other essential commodities distributed under the National Food Security Act.
