For the air passengers who travel via Chennai, special e-passes needed

Getting compulsory e-passes for the transit air passengers of Chennai could become reality soon.
It is known that an average of 3000 to 3500 passengers travel through Chennai airport every day. It is now revealed that these passengers must get transit e-passes from the government of TN.
The term ‘Transit Passengers’ refers to those who arrive from a city to Chennai airport, spend some time and then take another flight to their destination. It is worth mentioning that after domestic flights resumed many passengers stopping over at Chennai airport had many queries regarding the requirement of having regular TN e-passes or to stay at quarantine facilities.
For those passengers having Chennai airport as transit, there would be special e-passes. Point is the air passéngers could get e-passes before arriving in Chennai. There were discussions with the airport officials about the e-passes.
It has been revealed by some officials belonging to AAI that they have been asked to earmark a space at the airport for transit passengers if they have to wait within 6 hours. If the transit time is beyond 6 hours of time then the passengers could stay at one of the hotels identified by the state government till they get their next flight to their destinations. The hotels identified would be of huge benefit for those air passengers who would need to spend a day sometimes in Chennai.
As per an official it was clear that the transit passengers need not be in quarantine in Chennai but they need to be in quarantine after reaching their places of destination.
