Velankanni Festival 2026: Special Train Reservations Begin Today

Indian Railways has opened reservations for special trains between Ernakulam and Velankanni to accommodate the large number of devotees expected to travel for the annual Velankanni Festival 2026. Ticket booking began today at 8:00 AM, and passengers can now reserve their seats through railway reservation counters and online booking platforms.

The special train will depart from Ernakulam Junction on August 27, September 3, and September 10 at 1:00 PM, reaching Velankanni at 5:50 AM the following day. For the return journey, the train will leave Velankanni on August 28, September 4, and September 11 at 6:40 PM, arriving at Ernakulam Junction at 11:50 AM the next day.

The annual Velankanni Festival is one of the largest Christian pilgrimages in India, attracting lakhs of devotees from across the country. To meet the increased travel demand, Southern Railway has introduced these special train services to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for pilgrims.

Passengers planning to attend the festival are advised to book their tickets at the earliest, as seats are expected to fill up quickly during the festive season.
