Municipality Higher Secondary School present in Zamin Pallavaram in Tambaram Corporation in Chennai could soon become the cynosure of many eyes!!
The reason for this is that a smart class would be launched in this school as a part of a trial run for augmented reality/ virtual reality or AR/VR. It is now said that the students belonging to Tambaram Corporation would learn about the rockets and robots etc by viewing them at an arm`s length with the help of the latest technology.
The school has got more than 1100 students and the sensational AR/VR would be launched in this school at a cost of Rs 92 lakhs. It was explained by Tambaram Mayor K. Vasanthakumari that integrating technology into the schools in Tambaram Corporation would soon become a reality. After assessing its effectiveness of this idea plus the benefits/ improvements that would be required, the new technology would be implemented across the schools.
Salient features of AR/VR classroom:
It must be noted that the AR/VR classroom would come with 30 VR headsets produced by META, a digital kiosk, 30 tablets and LED panels etc. To access the assessment tools, tablets could be used and assessment tools would be prepared to test the knowledge of the students. Important piece of information is that the content has been aligned with TN state board syllabus. In English as well as in Tamil, lessons would be available for the students.
For some time, the Tambaram Corporation has been seriously considering upgrading the digital infrastructure present in the schools. This was as per Mr. S. Balachander, Corporation Commissioner.
