1,600 Ganesha Idols Sizes Immersed At Five Points Along Bay Of Bengal
The Bay of Bengal received the idols �big and small at Foreshore Estate, Kasimedu, Thiruvottiyur, Neelankarai and Ennore, bringing an end to another Ganesha festival that spread joy among revelers and concern among evironmentalists. More than 12,000 policemen lined the streets and guided people as the processions wound their way through `sensitive` neighbourhoods.
Policemen on horseback patrolled the beaches to keep revelers away from the sea. After the last of the 1,600 idols was immersed by 5.45pm and when police retreated, urchins dived into the water
