Severe cold weather in Chennai

Severe cold weather has persisted for the last few weeks in Chennai. Metropolian Wether Department authorities have informed that this will continue till 20th February.
Public has suffered from this cold weather. They feel that it is almost like Ooty. Road dwellers and hut dwellers have been affected especially.
Cold and fever have been reported in several areas and the visitors to hospitals has increased.Metropolitan Weather Bureau officials informed:
Cold season generally occurs between monsoon and summer. Normally, sunlight used to absorb the chillness in the clouds at high level. With the clouds being less in recent days, this chilliness could not be absorbed by the sun. Chilly winds are released causing severe cold weather. This is likely to continue till 20th February till the onset of summer.
