Ennore – Manali High Road to open next month?

The Ennore – Manali high road is nearing completion and likely to be inaugurated by the central minister, Mr. G. K. Vasan. This was disclosed by the minister who inaugurated the Railway Siding Infrastructure built at the cost Of Rs. 51.60 Crores at the Ennore Port. This would enable the proposed coal and stack yards to be connected to the southern and northern mainlines. The armor will be supplying coal to the Mettur Thermal power station and also to Raichur.
The minister also reviewed the project progress of the 30 km stretch between Ennore & Manali.
The delay in completion was due to shifting to new tenements of the people who were evacuated from the project area. There were other reasons as well for the delay of the last 1 year.
Ennore Port would take up various projects to double the capacity of the port from the present 30 million tonnes per annum to 67 million tonnes per annum under the 12th five-year plan.
